And one thing that can cure your Monday blues, heartbreak or a post-party hunger at 3 am, is a hot-chee dripping parantha. A cult on these beauties is created in Delhi and NCR, 100-year-old dhabas and posh cafes with their fusion fillings such as chicken tikka and cheese corn. I have been basically spending years in search of the best stuffed paranthas, which is why this is my completely biased and buttery list of the absolute jewels in Delhi NCR.
1. Chandni Chowk, Paranthe Wali Gali.
This venue does not require an introduction – it is the OG. I recall how I would walk through those small alleyways, with my nose burnt out with the smell of ghee, and how the paranthas would be sizzling in a kadhai sized pan. The fillings? All the old-fashioned aloo and gobhi to the weird-but-wonderful khurchan, banana and rabri. It is vintage, messy, and is worth all the calories. Nowhere can you find diet food, but this is heritage with butter.

2. Moolchand Parantha, Lajpat Nagar.
Ask any person who has been out late in South Delhi Moolchand is the unofficial afterparty establishment. Their paranthas of eggs and paneer are a known name in the city and that good pickle they serve alongside? Unreal. I once came here after a concert and, frankly speaking, it felt spiritual after having eaten buttery parantha in 2 AM. Their service extends till late and the ambience is distinctly Delhi, sloppy tables, raucous laughter and food that goes straight to the heart.

3. Amrik Sukhdev, Murthal
When you have ever made a night drive between Delhi and Murthal, Yay, you are now a Dilliwala. Amrik Sukhdev is where they stop to get their stuffed paranthas so big and delicious. Their aloo-pyaaz and gobhi ones are cooked in butter and are accompanied with tangy white butter and curd which is a panacea to any hangover. The vibe? Truckers, families, bikers, everybody is destroying paranthas like a religion.

4. Not Just Paranthas, Cyber Hub
This joint transforms the simple parantha into a complete makeover – fusion filling stuff such as butter chicken, mutton keema and even Nutella (do not judge it till you taste it). It so happens to be an excellent place when you need a touch of parantha, but with air conditioning, drinks, and fancy dishes. and also the Nawabi Parantha here is a meal itself, a royal, and heavy one.

5. Pandit Ji Parantha Hut, Uttam Nagar.
No poetry, no show, no dazzles, no bells, no whistles, no trumpets, no violins, no strings, no flutes, no bhatikas, no sitars, no saxophones, no clarion, no cymbals, no bassoons, no bassoons, no bassoons, no bassoons, no bassoons, no bassoons, no bassoons, no bassoons, no bassoons, no bassoons, no bassoons, no bassoons, no bassoons, no bassoons, no bassoons, no bassoons, no bassoons, The place of Pandit Ji has spicy green chutney and a dollop of love that accompany its mix veg, dal and paneer paranthas. Their regulars recommend the Lachha Parantha Combo but frankly speaking, after having tried this place once, you would know why this is a legend of West Delhi.

6. Gurgaon, Sector 14, Parantha Junction.
This is dedicated to my fellow Gurgaonians who will not want to travel long distances just to enjoy the Murthal atmosphere. The North Indian classics, aloo, pyaaz, paneer, are all available at the Parantha Junction, only the difference is that they have their own Cheese Burst Parantha. It is sticky, crunchy, and impossible not to post to Instagram. And with their lassi of a lassi you are all set up with a Sunday brunch.

7. Baba Nagpal Corner, Lajpat Nagar.
It is technically known in the world because of its chole bhature, but their stuffed aloo paranthas are simply comforting. Just a bit crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and perfectly matched with their spicy chole. You will find office goers and college students and food bloggers waiting to have a bite. It is chaotic, crowded and beautiful like Delhi itself.

8. Hotel Kake Da, Connaught Place.
Kake Da Hotel is fundamentally a rite of passage to the Delhi food eaters. Although the hero is the mutton curry, you should not sleep on their stuffed paranthas, more particularly on the aloo and keema ones that absorb the curry deliciousness. Add a glass of lassi and you are likely to take a nap immediately after it, but you will not regret a single mouthful.

9. Sardar Ji Malai Chaap Wale, Subhas Nagar.
The paranthas that they make are not only chaap, but are buttery heaven. The paneer tikka parantha is as popular in the crowd and they put sufficient masala in it that would make your tongue dance. It is roadside dining in its finest conception noisey, messy and so very Delhi.

10. Pahalwan Dhaba, Murthal
Murthal once again– since we can not be truthful to ourselves without saying it once again. Pahalwan Dhaba competes seriously with Sukhdev that offers extra-spicy and crisp paranthas and thick and sweet lassi. They can never beat their pyaaz and methi paranthas. When you are on a road trip, this is your destination to have a stretch, fill your soul.

11. Bikanervala, Rajouri Garden
It is the case with sometimes just wanting clean, consistent and homely food and Bikanervala hits the nail on the head. Their stuffed paranthas (particularly gobhi and mooli) are delicate, buttery and not a bad choice to get the comfort without the messiness. Serve with achar and sweet lassi – and your day is made.

12. Andaz, Delhi (Aerocity), AnnaMaya.
This is your fancy parantha, now. AnnaMaya prepares stuffed paranthas in gourmet form with organic flour and farm fresh products. Their Parantha with spinach and cheese is also a menu that should not be passed by and they accompany it with homemade pickles and artisanal butter. Expensive? Sure. Worth it? Absolutely.

13. Noida Sector 18, Raju Paranthe Wala.
Leaving off with a Noida legend. The paranthas offered by Raju Bhai are all about that home-style flavor, spongy in the middle, full of butter. Students and office-goers flock here to have breakfast combinations that consist of curd, pickle and chai at a lower price than 100 rupees. Pure desi bliss, no filters.
